OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday announced its detectives solved two cold cases, including one that was determined self-defense.
Sheriff’s officials said these two cases were solved through its Cold Case Program, which was formed in 2024.
The sheriff’s office said the first case was the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old De’Andre Nathaniel Wellnitz in June 2007. Deputies said Wellnitz was stabbed during a house party.
A person of interest in the case was found in Orlando in September 2025. Deputies said the person said he was struck during a fight and picked up a kitchen knife and waved it to keep others away. The sheriff’s office said it was determined to be self-defense, and no charges were filed.
