1PHILADELPHIA, P.A. – A woman was taken into custody early Monday after allegedly stabbing a man inside a West Philadelphia residence, leaving him critically injured.

The incident occurred around 12:06 a.m. on the 100 block of South Ruby Street, where responding officers found a male victim suffering from a stab wound to the chest on the second floor.

Medics transported the man to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Nyeemia Maxey, who was located on the first floor of the home and admitted to the stabbing before being taken into custody.
