Eight Philadelphia teenagers who were in Florida to take part in a championship game have been charged with stealing over $2,000 in merchandise from a sporting goods store.
Police said the incident happened at about 10:55 a.m. Saturday at a Dick’s Sporting Goods in Polk County, Florida.
NBC10 reported that one of the teens purchased something at the counter while the others looked around the store. They then all met up inside the store and started putting merchandise inside the store bag the teen who had purchased at item received.
They were stopped by law enforcement as they attempted to leave the store. Authorities determined they had more than $2,000 worth of stolen merchandise, including lip guards, football gloves, and hoodies, inside the bag.
