A Royal Caribbean passenger’s death has been ruled a homicide after a lawsuit alleges cruise staff served him 33 drinks at a bar before he died.
Michael Virgil, 35, was allegedly served nearly three dozen drinks at one of the cruise ship’s bars on the day he died in December 2024, according to a wrongful death lawsuit, TMZ reported .
The lawsuit alleges Virgil was detained by cruise security after an alcohol-fuelled episode where he attacked and threatened to kill passengers and ship staff.
The man’s family says Virgil died hours after being taken into custody by Royal Caribbean security, stating they injected a sedative into him that caused his death.
Virgil’s family says his death was changed to homicide, the legal documents noted.
