MONTOURSVILLE — With a 6-year-old and an almost 2-year-old, and after suffering three pregnancy losses, Ronan and Erin Scott-Ellard had decided not to have more children. Then they learned they were expecting.
Their daughter, Cora, was born in January five years ago at 25 weeks and two days. She weighed 15.9 ounces and spent the next 147 days in Geisinger’s NICU, where she was intubated immediately after birth because her lungs — and other organs — were not completely developed. NICU providers covered her skin in plastic wrap for about three days.
