OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Drivers traveling through Oak Hill on Thursday evening should expect delays as the West Virginia State Police conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Route 16.

Troopers say the checkpoint will be set up between State Street and Ridgewood Avenue and will operate from 6 p.m. to midnight on December 11.

The enforcement effort is aimed at identifying impaired drivers and discouraging drunk or drugged driving.

In addition to screening vehicles, officers will use the checkpoint to raise awareness about the risks and consequences of driving under the influence.

State Police are encouraging motorists to plan ahead, use designated drivers, and report suspected impaired driving to law enforcement.
