WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita police say they are investigating the death of a 4-year-old child and have arrested a man for abuse.

Sedgwick County booking records show 34-year-old Daniel Martin was booked early Tuesday morning for one count of child abuse. He's being held without bond.

Officers responded at around 3:20 p.m. Monday to a medical call regarding an unresponsive child at River Walk Apartments in the 2600 block of South Topeka. WPD spokesperson Rick Pena said the child was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 4:07 p.m.

Officer Pena said the suspect was arrested for child abuse pending he medical examiner's autopsy report.
