On Saturday, the New York Times published a wide-ranging interview with Kristen Stewart as part of promotion for her first full-length directorial effort, a film adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir The Chronology of Water .

* She talks about how the writing in the book drew her to the story: "Just the idea of diaristic writing by women being criticized for being selfish and narcissistic — it’s like, anytime you start talking about yourself, it becomes this tired, pathetic, messy thing. And I wanted to make something tired, pathetic and messy that also felt exuberant and encouraging."
