COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolinians can now apply to collect from a $700 million settlement involving Google.
The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office said Tuesday that Attorney General Alan Wilson and 52 other attorneys general recently secured the settlement. It will need to be approved in court in April 2026 before a majority of funds can be distributed.
The settlement was agreed to in 2023 after claims that Google was limiting competition against its Google Play app store.
Wilson’s office said the funds will go to customers who made purchases on the Google Play Store from August 2016 through September 2023. As part of the settlement, the tech giant also agreed to “make changes to stop its anticompetitive practices that harmed consumers and app developers,” according to Wil
