1PHILADELPHIA, P.A. – A man was fatally shot late Monday morning on a road in West Philadelphia , prompting a homicide investigation, authorities said.

Police from the 19th District responded to reports of a shooting around 10:11 a.m. near 200 North 62nd Street , where they found a 34-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Medics rushed the victim to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center , where he was pronounced dead at 10:43 a.m.

No arrests or motive identified

Detectives said no arrests have been made and a motive for the shooting has not been determined. Officers spent several hours at the scene collecting shell casings and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby traffic cameras.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending family notification.
