SOUTH NEW CASTLE - The woman killed in a fire in New Castle last week has been identified.
The Lawrence County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 59-year-old Gerri Black. Black died in a fire in a home on the 100 block of Good Avenue on Thursday, December 4.
Black had called dispatchers, saying she could not escape through the window. Firefighters entered the home to save Black's life, but were unsuccessful.
Another male occupant of the house was able to get out but suffered burns to his feet.
