AMES, Iowa —
Autmn Toney sees the impact of the Iowa State football season up close from her job at Raygun on Main Street in Ames.
In the fall, the store builds many of its T-shirt designs around upcoming games, and customer interest often tracks with the team's performance.
"A lot of people come in to look at the designs," she said. "Which brings a lot of new people into the store who might not otherwise come in."
That game-day boost is part of a broader hope surrounding the program's next chapter. With new head football coach Jimmy Rogers taking over, many in Ames want to see him build on what Matt Campbell accomplished over his decade leading the Cyclones.
The sense in the community is that continued success on the field could mean continued momentum off it as well.
