CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Guatemalan national unlawfully residing in the United States who was previously convicted of sexual battery plead guilty in federal court in Cleveland Monday to encouraging and inducing an unaccompanied alien child (UAC).
According to a release by the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, the man encouraged and induced the child to illegally enter the U.S. and to submitting a sponsorship application with false statements to the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) to gain custody of the UAC.
