SUMTER, S.C. (WIS) - A Sumter man was sentenced to decades in prison after being found guilty in a deadly 2023 shooting.

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office said 45-year-old Travis Wright was found guilty of murder and a weapons charge on Friday. Officials said the verdict came after a weeklong trial.

Wright shot and killed 25-year-old Adrian McCray in the area of the A&P Coastal Mart in August 2023. He remained on the run for nearly a week before turning himself in.

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Sumter Police Department.
