WHITTEMORE – Last year already seems like a distant memory for the Whittemore-Prescott boys basketball team. A year ago, they struggled through a season with only one victory; but through the first week of the season they’ve already surpassed that with two wins, including their season opener over visiting Hale on Monday, Dec. 1, 52-30.
“Actually, I thought the kids came out and played really good for the first game, just to see what we had and see our system put in and see it work,” W-P head coach Ryan Lomason said. “It was nice to come out with that first win.”
Helping things in a big way was the Cardinal defense. Their constant full court pressure kept Hale from getting comfortable in its offense all night long; resulting in the Eagles turning it over 49 times.
“That’s a huge number,”
