CAMBRIDGE, Md. — Maryland ag leaders are preparing to defend farm programs as the state approaches next year’s budget talks with a projected $1.4 billion deficit.

Jamie Raley, the Maryland Farm Bureau president, said he would not be surprised if state agencies face across-the-board cuts of 1% to 2%.
