BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. — I-65 was closed for hours in both directions in Bartholomew County, Indiana after a military semi caught fire Tuesday morning.

Bartholomew County Sheriff Chris Lane said the semi was carrying roughly 300 howitzer rounds when it caught fire.

Just before 8 a.m. , Lane said I-65 would be closed from the I-65 exit in Bartholomew County to the 55 exit in Jackson County for at least four hours.

The sheriff said an Army EOD team is enroute to render the munitions safe.

In an update on social media, Indiana State Police said all lanes are being reopened as of 11:45 a.m.
