SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Notre Dame men’s basketball team just announced a major blow, as star guard Markus Burton will undergo surgery tomorrow after suffering a left ankle injury.
The team says there is currently no timetable for his return.
The Penn High School alum went down a little over halfway through the first half during Notre Dame’s win at TCU this past Friday , landing awkwardly with his left foot while scoring a basket.
It’s unfortunate news for the Irish, who are losing one of their star players for extended time. According to our reporting partners at the South Bend Tribune , Burton leads the Irish in scoring (18.5 ppg), assists (3.7), steals (16) and minutes (30.1).
Notre Dame is 7-3 on the season and is coming off two big wins last week over Missouri and TCU. T
