A west London councillor has been suspended by the Labour Party after it emerged that she employed an illegal worker in her home.
Former Deputy Mayor of Hounslow Councillor Hina Mir recently sought to overturn a county court fine issued in January that required her to pay £40,000 for employing an illegal worker . She attempted to appeal this fine and it was rejected by the judge.
Cllr Mir remained a Labour councillor, and was even re-selected for the 2026 elections despite Hounslow Labour apparently being aware of the ruling against her. Additionally, she was also made Chair of the Housing and Environment Scrutiny Panel in May, four months after the initial ruling.
