The National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory at 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday valid from Wednesday 4 a.m. until Thursday 1 a.m. for Cayuga, Cortland, Chenango, Otsego, Delaware and Sullivan counties.
"Snow and some mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze. Localized snow amounts up to 7 inches possible over the highest elevations of these counties," explains the weather service. "A period of steady snow arrives early Wednesday morning and continues through the day. Brief periods of rain or freezing rain could mix in a times Wednesday afternoon or early evening, before changing back to all snow showers late Wednesday evening."
