UCF defensive tackle John Walker plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2.

The redshirt sophomore notified coach Scott Frost of his decision on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Walker was a four-star standout from Osceola High School and became the highest-rated high school prospect to sign with the program when he arrived as part of the 2023 recruiting class under then-coach Gus Malzahn.

During his freshman season, Walker registered 24 tackles, five tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries in 389 snaps in 13 games.
