IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa City Foreign Relations Council says it’s missing about $6,500 in donations after a third-party payment platform failed to transfer the funds, representing 10% of the nonprofit’s annual budget.
The organization is among multiple nonprofits nationwide affected by problems with Flipcause, an Oakland, California-based company. The company has failed to transfer approximately $500,000 in donations back to nonprofits around the country, according to California’s Attorney General.
Platform problems emerged this year
The Iowa City Foreign Relations Council had used Flipcause to manage digital donations for about five years before problems began emerging early this year.
