A 50-year-old Toronto Police officer has been charged with theft and other offences.

Police alleged that while working at the 52 Division front desk on Sept. 4, an officer allegedly took “found property” instead of logging it and arranging to return it to the owner.

Const. Timothy Deacon was charged with theft under $5,000, obstruct peace officer and breach of trust.

Deacon has 16 years of service, and is suspended with pay as per the requirements of the Community Safety and Policing Act of Ontario.
