SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah man detained by ICE agents minutes before his green card interview is now being held in Arizona.

Andy Armstrong, an attorney with Stowell Crayk who’s working with Jair Celis, said Celis doesn’t have a criminal record and he came to the U.S. legally.

He said the interview he was completing at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services was to verify Celis’ marriage to his wife, who is a U.S. citizen, is lawful, and to ensure there isn’t anything about his past that would make him ineligible for residency.
