WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — The Texas primary election is less than three months away, and Williamson County voters could see more changes to how their elections are run.
In the last election, the county ditched electronic voting machines for hand-marked paper ballots. Now, the local Republican Party plans to change where voters can cast their ballots on Election Day by ending countywide voting.
Republican leaders are expected to meet on Tuesday evening to finalize a contract with Williamson County officials that would make the change official.
Since 2013, Williamson County voters have been able to cast ballots at any polling location in the county. For example, someone who lives in Round Rock but works in Georgetown could stop by the Georgetown Annex to vote during a lunch break.
