Australia captain Pat Cummins is poised to return for the third Ashes Test against England in Adelaide, having been named in a 15-man squad on Wednesday.

Cummins is the sole addition to an otherwise unchanged squad from Brisbane, where Australia secured an eight-wicket victory to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

The 32-year-old Cummins has been out of action since July due to a lower back injury sustained during the tour of the West Indies.

“We feel as though he’ll be as best prepared as can be," said Australia coach Andrew McDonald. “He was well ahead of where we thought he’d be at and it did create a real live conversation for (Cummins playing in) Brisbane.
