HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear, D-Ky., and Hopkinsville city leaders cut the ribbon at Toyota Boshoku Western Kentucky, a new “smart plant” that will make interior components for Toyota vehicles.
“This is one of the most state-of-the-art facilities in the entire world, and it’s right here in Hopkinsville, Kentucky,” Beshear said. “It’s going to build components for the RAV4, one of the top-selling cars in the country and around the world.”
The plant is expected to create more than 150 jobs, said Nagib Mamud, senior manager of administration. So far, the company has hired 112 employees. The 49-acre facility will produce interior parts such as seat tracks and seat recliners.
“Currently, we are making parts that are going to the Tennessee plant and to the Canada plant,” Mamud said
