The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Union of India, seeking its response on a plea demanding security and protection for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) deployed for enumeration work during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, particularly in West Bengal. The court took serious note of allegations that BLOs and other field officials were facing threats, intimidation and obstruction while carrying out door-to-door verification.
