A massive fire broke out late Tuesday night at Sohum Emporia, a multi-storey commercial complex in Guwahati’s Christian Basti area, causing extensive damage.

The fire has triggered shock and concern among the public, especially State Bank of India (SBI) account holders, as several of the bank’s offices were located in the building. In addition to the SBI branches, the high-rise also housed the upscale shopping complex Sohum Emporia, which served thousands of daily visitors, including high-end shoppers.
