Harrisburg’s 2026 budget is in the works. City council already met for three budget hearings and then gathered for a work session on Tuesday, where members discussed the mayor’s requested pay raise.

Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams proposed a 25% raise for herself, or $20,000 , which would put her salary at $100,000 for the next four years. Other city departments advocated for their budget increases through presentations that touted annual achievements and taxpayer savings.

Bill 15 of 2025 — put forth by the mayor — suggests a $5,000 increase for the council president, bringing the position’s salary to $26,500, and a similar increase for the other six members of council, the controller and treasurer, raising each of their annual salaries to $25,000.
