The Camas boys basketball team believes facing tough competition is the best way to grow.
After graduating four senior starters, the Papermakers took on another tough early-season opponent on Tuesday.
Camas fell 77-70 against Southridge, the No. 5-ranked Class 6A team in Oregon. But the Papermakers (2-3) were within one possession in the final minute on the road.
Tuesday’s game in Beaverton came after a weekend trip to Spokane, where Camas faced reigning 4A state champ Gonzaga Prep and 3A semifinalist Mt. Spokane.
“Lots of great opportunities for growth this last week with a team that doesn’t have much experience on this stage,” Camas coach Scott Thompson said. “I am excited to see how good this team can get this year.”
