Ukraine could hold war-time elections if the United States and Kyiv’s European allies can ensure security, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said.
Zelensky made the comments after President Donald Trump said earlier this week that it was time for the country to go to the polls .
"I am ready for the elections," Zelensky said on Tuesday. "Not only that, I am asking – and I am now declaring this openly – the United States of America to help me, together with our European colleagues, to ensure security for the elections."
He added that if security can be assured, "Ukraine will be ready to conduct elections in the next 60 to 90 days."
