A Treasury inquiry is underway after a series of “very damaging” leaks in the run up to the Budget , the Chancellor has confirmed.
Rachel Reeves has been urged to resign over the chaos in the run up to her financial statement last month, which culminated in the contents of her entire Budget accidentally being published by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) on the morning before she delivered it to the country.
The watchdog’s chief, Richard Hughes, resigned over the error . But there were also a series of leaks about the contents of the Budget that appeared in the press in the days and weeks leading up to the event.
