Slidell setter Ava Labat has been an integral part of the Tigers’ back-to-back Division I state championships.
The senior passed 4,000 career assists this past season, and now, she’s ready for the next challenge — college volleyball.
Labat signed to play both indoor and beach volleyball at Loyola-New Orleans on Dec. 8.
“Today means a lot,” Labat said. “Loyola is close to home. They have a growing program. I think I’ll succeed a lot there. When I visited, it felt like home. It felt like a good school to be at.”
Labat said that winning a second straight state championship was a great way to end her high school career, and signing with Loyola was another memorable moment in a school year filled with them.
As a senior, she recorded a career-high 1,595 assists, 281 digs, 72 blocks, 60 kill
