EAST LANSING – The Michigan State University Board of Trustees is set to vote on the hiring of Pat Fitzgerald as the school's head football coach during its meeting scheduled for Friday, Dec. 12.

Some of the financial details have been reported, but there are many other perks included, from moving expenses to free hours on a private plane to vehicles paid for by MSU and more.

The university announced Fitzgerald as the next head coach on Monday, Dec. 1 — just one day after Jonathan Smith was fired . Smith's tenure ended following a 4-8 season with just one Big Ten win.

Fitzgerald was the head coach of Northwestern University from 2006-2023, when he was fired in the fallout of the program's hazing scandal , including sexual misconduct from players. An external investigation did not
