PEORIA, Ill. – More snow with high winds on Wednesday is prompting 25 News to designate a First Alert Weather Day.
25 News First Alert Chief Meteorologist Brian Walder says isolated to scattered snow squalls, the winter weather version of a severe thunderstorm, are where strong winds are accompanied by moderate to heavy bursts of snow.
Snow squalls can allow for minor but quick snow accumulations and poor visibility, which may lead to difficult travel conditions at times, with wind gusts up to 40-50 miles per hour.
Walder says the main weather threat on Wednesday is expected to end by 9-10 a.m.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln has also issued a Wind Advisory that will remain in effect until Noon on Wednesday.
