A massive whale shark was found washed ashore at Keelmidalam beach in the Kanyakumari district.

According to local reports, the incident happened on Tuesday, when the 10-foot-long, nearly two-tonne shark became entangled in a fishing net. Fishermen from Keelmidalam cut the net in an attempt to free the giant creature and help it return to the deep sea.

However, when the fishermen returned to shore, they found that the whale shark had not survived. Its carcass had drifted back to the coastline, drawing large crowds of curious residents who rushed to the beach upon learning about the incident.
