A man has been taken to hospital after he was attacked with hammers in Tuebrook this morning. At around 4.45am on Wednesday (December 10) emergency services were called to Newsham Drive in Tuebrook with reports two men riding bikes had attacked a man with hammers.

Merseyside Police attended the scene and the victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital by officers. A police investigation is ongoing and officers are carrying out witness, CCTV and forensic enquiries in the area.

Detective Inspector Paula Jones said: “Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish what has taken place, however we believe it to be in a targeted assault.
