Financial giant JPMorganChase & Co., which has been close to signing a lease at Boston's South Station Tower for weeks, is close enough to a deal that it's asked the city to consider its name atop the new skyscraper.

JPMorgan has filed an application with the city of Boston to install a 77-foot-by-12-foot sign atop the new South Station Tower, even as the bank confirmed Tuesday it has not yet formally signed a lease.
