As I look at housing values and new home builds, I wonder why.
Why are there hardly any big porches where neighbors could sit, talk, share stories and laughs? Now, neighbors are afraid to talk to each other.
That's what's missing in most all I see. Little stoops out front, and if the name is not on the entry door or mailbox, most owners don't even know their neighbor's names.
Even if there is a porch, they build them far away from each other when they used to be almost in each other's yards. Today's homes are built to shut the world out, not let it in. Gone are the good neighbors who would help each other out if able, too.
I don't see many one-story ranch-style homes now being built for us "golden" agers (now mostly Rust Belt elders) who have problems climbing stairs.
