Deaths of six residents of council care home to be probed

The deaths of six residents at a Runcorn care home are to be probed. Inquests have been opened into six deaths at the council -run St Luke’s care home.

The six deaths all occurred between December 2022 and January 2024. Residents were aged between 67 and 88. The facility, in the Palacefields area, is run by Halton Borough Council. The inquests opened this morning (Wednesday) at Cheshire Coroner’s Court, Warrington when the names of the deceased were read out.

Concerns shared by the families include claims of inadequate falls prevention, failure to provide adequate personal care, failure to provide suitable dementia care, failures in carrying out risk assessments, poor implementation of care plans, and issues with infection prevention and contr
