If you are sneezing or have a sore throat, you likely think you are coming down with a cold or the flu. At this time of year, this thought only seems natural. But it could be something unusual. In a warning by the national charity, Allergy UK , you could have Christmas Tree syndrome .
But what is it? The charity explained that whilst there is no "formal medical diagnosis", it's a nickname given when a "flare-up of allergy symptoms" occurs. As the name suggests, it can be triggered at this time of year when we decorate our Christmas tree .
Many people may not know this, but "Christmas trees can stir up irritants which then aggravate existing allergies." It can be triggered by real or artificial trees, meaning anyone could be affected.
