Amid the challenges Manipur has been facing since the ethnic unrest of May 2023, two senior officers of the State Forest Service have been promoted to the Indian Forest Service (IFoS).

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, approved the promotions on December 9, 2025, following recommendations by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for inclusion in the Select List of 2022.

The two officers are-Laishram Birmangol Singh, Director, Manipur Zoological Garden, Imphal and Kharibam Hitler Singh, currently posted as the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Tamenglong.
