Behind all the bells and whistles that are associated with AI is a fundamental reality: The rush to invest in, develop and implement artificial intelligence is, first and foremost, a scheme to enrich grifting billionaires sufficiently so that they can become trillionaires.
That does not mean that AI is as exploitive as the usual schemes of the uber-rich. Certainly, there are potential AI applications that could benefit society. But never imagine for a second that those applications will be given priority over the collection of your data by very wealthy men who will use that data to make themselves very much wealthier.
Anyone who doubts this reality was obviously not paying attention during the digital and social-media revolutions that have powered the most rapid upward redistributions of
