MUNICH — Canada captain Alphonso Davies returned to action for Bayern Munich on Tuesday, his first appearance .in 262 days since suffering a serious knee injury
The 25-year-old from Edmonton came in off the bench in the 88th minute in Bayern’s 3-1 win over Portuguese champion Sporting Lisbon in Champions League play at Allianz Arena.
Josip Stanisic started in the left back role for Bayern. But Davies had hinted on the Film Never Lies podcast Monday that coach Vincent Kompany could put him into the game.
“I’m not sure if I will get minutes,” he said. “I mean, that’s up to the coach.”
Davies replaced German international Serge Gnabry, one of Bayern’s goal-scorers.
