It takes an incredible amount of work and commitment to stay in game shape as a professional athlete. And though 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers had been working out in his spare time, he showed up to his introductory Colts press conference looking like someone who had been away from pro sports for a few years.
But hey, Rivers had some fun with the questions about his weight.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday for the first time since coming out of retirement amid a dire injury situation in the Colts' quarterback room, Rivers — who appeared a little heavier than in his playing days — was asked if he knew his current weight.
His answer was too good.
And let's be honest: Speed was never a part of Rivers' game. He ran a 5.08 40-yard dash at his NC State pro day — the supposed peak of his athletic prime. So, it probably won't matter that he's lost an additional step since 2020.
Like he said, he has no plans to outrun anyone.
