GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Matt Sexton’s athletic future is on the football field, but the Forest Hills Central senior will be displaying his abilities on the basketball court for the next few months.
Sexton’s layup with 1.2 seconds left led Central to a 68-66 win over Byron Center on Tuesday, improving the Rangers’ record to 3-0. The 6-foot-4 forward and Central Michigan University football signee scored 22 of his team-high 24 points in the second half, and he’s now averaging 26.3 points per contest.
Freshman guard Kellen Paul added 16 points for the Rangers.
Carson Piering led Byron Center with 16 points, while fellow senior Cassius Bont junior Brayden Slot added 15 points each. Connor Jenks rounded out the Bulldogs’ double-digit scorers with 11 points.
