Shillong, Dec 10: The State government today dedicated cultural and tourism amenities for the Nongkrem Dance at Lum Pomblang and Madan Syiem in Smit aimed towards promoting Meghalaya’s rich cultural heritage and strengthening its tourism infrastructure.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, the Syiem and Dorbar of Hima Khyrim and community representatives, including Longsan Mansan, Sordars, and Rangbah Shnongs were present on the occasion.
In his address, the Chief Minister rue that despite decades of statehood the cultural identity of the tribal community has not been fully preserved. “I share this not as a criticism, but as a reflection,” he said.
