Fontana’s cadet, Stephanie Mendoza, has earned the Junior Distinguished Badge — only
the second time in Fontana MCJROTC history that this honor has been achieved (first was Marcos Serrano Badge, No. 901 in 2015).
The Junior Distinguished Badge is awarded by the Civilian Marksmanship Program to junior shooters who accumulate 30 Excellence-in-Competition credits — including at least 10 from national-level championships. It is one of the highest honors available at the junior air-rifle level.
Mendoza’s badge reflects not just a strong performance at one event, but sustained excellence across multiple matches — a testament to her discipline, skill, and competitive consistency. It also speaks highly of our coaching, training standards and the commitment of cadets.
