Before the first note is sung at the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav, a familiar voice reaches the audience — steady, courteous, never in a hurry. For 33 consecutive years, that voice has belonged to Anand Deshmukh.

Deshmukh’s uninterrupted journey as the official presenter of the Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav has been recognised by the World Book of Records, London. The organisation’s representative, Vikram Trivedi, will confer the honour on him at the Mahotsav on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at around 6 pm.
